About Seán
Olá! My name is Seán, and I'm a passionate language enthusiast studying International Politics and French at the University of Bath.
My love of languages began when my family moved from London to Madrid when I was ten. Having arrived speaking only English, I spent eight years in Spain learning Spanish and becoming fluent. Since then, I've continued exploring other languages, including French, Italian, Portuguese and Haitian Creole.
Portuguese has been a part of my life since I was fifteen, thanks to the Brazilian friends I've made over the years. I've also taken Portuguese lessons for several years and studied the language at university in Paris for a year. Through these experiences, I've developed a genuine appreciation for the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture.
Having learnt several languages myself, I understand the challenges of starting from scratch, staying motivated and building confidence when speaking. I know that making mistakes is a natural part of learning, and I want my students to feel comfortable practising, asking questions and making progress at their own pace.
I've taught more than 50 students across Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. I enjoy sharing my passion for languages, explaining grammar clearly and adapting lessons to each student's individual needs.
Whether you're learning Portuguese for travel, work, conversation or simply out of curiosity, I'd love to help you on your language-learning journey!

Sean is an exceptional teacher and lovely person. Through him my spanish at GCSE improved greatly. He is invested, intelligent and always friendly resulting in a great experience with Sean. I cannot name any drawbacks in his lessons whatsoever and so I believe he is perfect for anyone wanting to improve their Spanish. I could not encourage you to take lessons with him more!
I have been lucky to have 12 Spanish lessons with Sean and would definitely recommend him to others! He has an outstanding knowledge of Spanish from spending many years in both the UK and Spain and is a very encouraging, personable and generally fantastic tutor. Many thanks Sean!
Sean is a great teacher. With him I managed to greatly improve my Spanish level and more importantly I became more confident in my Spanish speaking skills after taking lessons with him. He is a motivated and prepared teacher and I cannot recommend him enough!
Sean is a great teacher! His lessons are always really well prepared, interesting and fun. The fact he speaks fluent English and Spanish is a real bonus (for me at least too). He breaks things down to make them super easy to understand.
Sean is an excellent tutor, who I would 100% recommend!
His sessions are fun and he is really encouraging. He has tailor made his classes to include grammer I need to work on and covered topics that interest me. Overall, I feel my Spanish has improved a lot in a short space of time.View more recommendations
