About Jill
I work as a university Philosophy Instructor, now for 30 years with 22 of those teaching distance education. I specialize in Ethics, particularly Applied Ethics, Critical Thinking and Logic, and the concept of autonomy. My interest in pedagogy has been re-ignited, recently, with our AI culture, where both instructors and learners are navigating AI's good and not-so-good usages.
I had teachers and university professors whose inspiration and assistance, sparked me to follow the path I took. I always aim to have such an effect on my students.

I tailor my lessons and guidance to secondary and post-secondary levels of education and skill, as well as to individual needs, preferences, and characters. I am open to how we may proceed with our learning/teaching situation. What is best, in this educational format, can only be determined when a learner communicates to an instructor what the learner wants to accomplish through the learning experience.
There are various approaches that could be adopted. Here are a couple of examples:
* You present me with something you are working on and questions you have. I provide feedback. We discuss whether and how to incorporate my advice according to our common aim of you most successfully achieving your goal in completing the project.
* I will provide a short exercise in the area of your particular interest. I will review your response/answer in order to determine both what is working well for you and what could use improvement. We will discuss the strengths and weakness you have shown, and I'll advise. Then, together we will determine how best to proceed.
Basically, our process would start with you informing me about what, specifically, you want and expect to be the goal of our learning experience. Once I understand what you have in mind, together we will sort out the best approach.
Your efforts, understandings, and skills will be appreciated and encouraged. Your work will improve. We will be a team and, very ikely, I will learn things too!
