About MAO
Hi there!
I’m Mao, and I was born and raised in Kanazawa, Ishikawa—a beautiful city famous for its incredibly delicious seafood.
I worked as an elementary school teacher for over 10 years.
In my free time, I love visiting cafes, traveling️, taking walks, and watching sports️.
Travel is my absolute passion, and I’ve explored more than 20 countries so far! For me, trying amazing local food and drinks and chatting with the locals is where I get all my energy.
I really love chatting, and I can't wait to connect with all of you through Japanese while sharing lots of fun stories. Let’s enjoy talking together!

Common Concerns
“I understand the grammar, but the words just won't come out when I try to speak.”
“I’m so scared of making mistakes that I end up just staying quiet.”
“I’m not even confident with my Hiragana yet.”
“I don't know the natural ways to rephrase things or subtle nuances.”
“I want to book restaurants myself during my trip to Japan, but doing it over the phone or online makes me nervous.”
Are you interested in Japanese but feeling anxious, thinking, "What if I can't speak it?" or "I don't even know where to start"?
Please don't worry! It is completely okay to make mistakes or not know everything.
In my lessons, I focus on creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere—just like chatting with a friend—while we work together to master "natural Japanese for everyday life."
I used to live in France, where I truly experienced the joy, importance, and challenges of learning a different culture firsthand.
Right now, I am also challenging myself to learn English and hope to visit Australia someday!
Because I face these language-learning hurdles every single day myself, I am here to truly understand your struggles and support you every step of the way.
How I Can Help You
①Japanese for everyday conversation and travel
②Tips for listening to "fast native Japanese" and how to respond smoothly
③Natural and authentic Japanese expressions
④Understanding cultural and etiquette differences between Japan and overseas
【Deep Local Travel Planning】 As a traveler who has visited 20 countries, I can help you plan your trip to deep local spots—including Kanazawa—where you can enjoy amazing Japanese food and local sake!
Beyond these topics, I also offer custom-made lessons tailored specifically to your personal goals!

Perfect! Mao is very kind and easy to talk to! I'm fairly advanced and was looking primarily for conversation practice, but I think she is a great teacher for any level. We had a nice chat, and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with her!
