About Valerie
y journey with music combines the thrill of performance with the artistic eye behind the lens.
For years, I honed my trumpet skills in everything from prestigious youth orchestras to the electrifying energy of marching band. I jammed with fellow music lovers in jazz band and brought the spirit to every game with the pep band. My dedication even led me to DCI auditions, pushing my musical boundaries.
But music isn't just about the sounds I create. My passion extends to capturing the magic of performance. As a professional live music photographer and videographer, I've witnessed countless talented musicians from the other side of the stage. This unique perspective allows me to understand the emotions and challenges performers face, making me a more empathetic and well-rounded trumpet tutor.
What does this mean for you? It means I can not only teach you the technical aspects of playing the trumpet, but also help you develop your stage presence, musicality, and confidence. I'll draw from my performance experience to guide you through the intricacies of phrasing and interpretation, and my photographer's eye will help you understand how to truly connect with your audience.
