I'm a dedicated Tagalog tutor with a genuine passion for helping learners of all ages connect with the Filipino language and culture. Whether you're a young child taking your first steps in Tagalog, a heritage learner looking to reconnect with your roots, or a high school student aiming to build real conversational confidence, I bring patience, structure, and enthusiasm to every lesson.
My teaching approach is rooted in proven language-learning methods — combining interactive, communicative techniques with age-appropriate materials, songs, stories, and games that make learning both effective and enjoyable. I believe language is best learned through genuine use, not just memorization, so my students speak Tagalog from their very first session.
I take my role as an educator seriously: lessons are carefully planned, progress is tracked, and every student's pace and learning style are respected. My goal isn't just to teach vocabulary and grammar — it's to build lasting confidence, cultural understanding, and a real love for the Filipino language.

My approach blends structure with play, adjusted to the learner's age and comfort level.
Communicative approach — students speak from lesson one, even with just a few words, rather than memorizing grammar rules in isolation
Total Physical Response (TPR) for younger kids — using gestures, objects, and movement to teach vocabulary (mga bahagi ng katawan, mga hayop, atbp.) so language sticks through action, not rote repetition
Storytelling and songs — Filipino folk tales, awiting bayan, and simple dialogues to make vocabulary memorable and cultural context natural
Repetition through games — flashcard games, roleplay, "Bahay Kubo" style sing-alongs for younger learners; debate or discussion practice for teens
A Typical Lesson Plan (45–60 minutes)
-Warm-up (5–10 min) — greeting practice in Tagalog, quick review of last session's vocabulary
Introduction of new material (10–15 min) — new vocabulary or grammar point, introduced with visuals, objects, or example sentences
-Guided practice (10–15 min) — worksheets, matching games, or sentence-building exercises using the new material
-Active use (10–15 min) — roleplay, conversation practice, or a short game where the student must use what they just learned
-Wrap-up (5 min) — quick recap, assign light homework (a song to listen to, a sentence to write), and a preview of next lesson
What Sets Me Apart
-I incorporate Filipino culture and values (utang na loob, paggalang, pakikisama) alongside language, so students understand why Tagalog is spoken the way it is, not just vocabulary lists
-I tailor lessons to whether the student is a heritage speaker reconnecting with the language, a complete beginner, or a Filipino-American/mixed household kid who understands but doesn't speak confidently — each needs a different starting point
