About Jennifer
I have a PhD in Comparative Literature from Rutgers University, where I specialized in 19-century novels and translation studies. I then brought my passion for literature to the high school classroom, where I have focused on teaching analysis and critical thinking as well as effective and personalized writing. I love connecting with young people and helping them to develop and express their ideas.
As a current counselor-in-training, I am also sensitive to the emotional needs of students and work to make academic learning a source of personal growth and enrichment.

I offer personalized lessons carefully planned to meet your individual learning goals. We might:
-- read and discuss texts together
-- learn and practice key usage skills
-- plan writing projects and set weekly goals
-- try out new modes of writing
-- practice timed writing skills
Students appreciate my listening skills, empathy, adaptable teaching style, sense of humor, and expertise in literary analysis and written expression.
I specialize in working with high school students, but I am also available to tutor middle school and college students.
