About Danyal
I am a second-year Economics student with a strong mathematical background and a broad range of interests, spanning the natural and social sciences. I enjoy the challenges of tutoring and the sense of fulfilment when sharing my expertise and passing on knowledge to others. This motivates me to pursue tutoring in Maths, Physics and Economics despite choosing to pursue only Economics to degree level, at the LSE. I recognise the balance between inspiring students and sticking to the content specification, mastering only that which is required for the exam.
I also have plenty of tutoring experience: I have over 30 hours of classroom-based Mathematics tutoring at school and have represented my university on a weekly schools-tutoring programme, that involved designing and implementing a 10-week GCSE Physics revision syllabus. Since starting university, I have worked as a personal tutor almost every weekend, gaining over 70 hours of experience in a 1-to-1, client-based role.
The two most important attributes for a tutor are perception- the ability to recognise mistakes and empathise with the thought process- and articulation- being able to communicate the solution and how to improve in a clear and appropriate way. I believe that over 100 hours of experience tutoring has allowed me to develop both of these key attributes, as well as a passion for tutoring.
The student will only improve if he/she is engaged with the sessions; this is partly provided by a strong motivation to learn, but mainly through an interactive learning environment. My sessions will be entirely interactive; whilst I will ask questions and explain concepts as best as I can, the student will also ask questions and explain their reasoning fully and out-loud.
