About John
I’m a magna cum laude graduate of the LSU Honors College with a strong interest in the humanities and social sciences, especially sociology, history, political science, art history, and philosophy. I’ve always loved reading, discussion, and the challenge of making big ideas clear and meaningful. I’m naturally very verbal, and I enjoy helping students not only understand material, but also feel more confident expressing their own thoughts about it.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, keeping up with current events and history, and spending time in thoughtful conversation. I’m someone who values clarity, curiosity, and strong communication, and I bring that same energy into my lessons. My goal is to create a relaxed but intellectually serious environment where students can ask questions freely, build confidence, and really grow in their understanding.

My teaching style is clear, conversational, and highly adaptive to the student’s needs. I focus on helping students actually understand ideas rather than just memorize information, and I’m especially strong at breaking down difficult readings, theories, and concepts into language that feels intuitive and manageable. I also help students improve their verbal reasoning, writing organization, and confidence in discussing complex material.
