About Emilia
As I've mentioned, I completed English Language, History & Sociology A-Levels and went on to achieve a First Class BA English & Creative Writing degree from Manchester Metropolitan University. However, I just couldn't get enough of learning and stayed on for another year to complete a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics, eventually resulting in a Distinction. I'm currently working full-time as a proofreader and creative copywriter, so I have a vast wealth of experience when it comes to writing for a range of audiences.
My zest, zeal, penchant, enthusiasm for words began at around seven years old when I dived headfirst into the Rainbow Magic adventures, the Hogwarts castle and the ancient world of the Roman Mysteries. I began stapling together sheets of paper with pencilled stories inspired by these books and as I grew up, learned how to weave words into sentences, paragraphs and eventually whole works. It's a bit of a stereotype that English students inevitably go on to become teachers – but I understand why. Our language is the main way we communicate with each other. I love words. I love messy, complicated ones, exhilarating, exasperating ones and unreservedly ridiculous ones; I love everything that uses words, from books to films to TV shows. I love weird words in different languages and different alphabets, and I've loved learning how to use our ever-developing language to stimulate the imagination, impress thoughts and tell our stories – so much in fact that I just can't wait to pass that knowledge onto the next generation.

A typical session would last an hour. We'll spend the first five minutes determining our learning objectives, then ten minutes of engaged learning, for example problem solving, going over anything we learned last session – turning on our brains! The majority of the session will be spent using a mixture of presentation based and discussion based teaching, with some practical application of skills learned towards the end. Finally, we'll reflect on what we learned and set goals for our next session.
I've worked with students from a range of ages helping them to complete the NCS programme, work through UCAS applications and achieve the results needed to accomplish their goals.
Having completed three essay based subjects at A-Level as well as holding both a BA in English Literature & Creative Writing and an MA in Linguistics & English Language, I am confident that I can help any GCSE, A-Level or university students improve their written skills and become accomplished users of our incredible language.
