About Saaya
About Me
Hello! I grew up in Okayama, Japan, and completed my Bachelor's degree in the beautiful port city of Kobe. I recently moved to Saskatoon, Canada, after getting married to my husband! Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Education at the University of Saskatchewan (USask).
When I’m not studying or teaching, I love going to concerts, watching movies, and enjoying a good shopping day. At home, you can usually find me taking care of my houseplants or doing my own nail art. I am also a huge coffee lover—I drink a lot of it throughout the day!
My biggest passion is dancing, which I have been doing for over 10 years.
I love chatting about everyday life, hobbies, and cultures. I can’t wait to share my language and culture with you, and I would love to hear all about your favorite things, too!

What are your goals? (Who this class is perfect for?)
Pop Culture Fans: You want to enjoy anime, manga, and dramas without subtitles and dive deeper into the cultural background behind them.
Travelers & Expats: Planning to travel, study abroad, or do a working holiday in Japan? Let's learn practical, real-life "survival" Japanese you can use from day one.
Casual Conversationalists: You want to move beyond stiff textbooks and master real, living Japanese so you can chat naturally with Japanese friends.
JLPT Takers: You are studying for the JLPT but want to make sure you can actually speak. Let's develop practical conversational skills alongside your exam prep!
What I can offer
Native Nuance & Pronunciation: As a native speaker, I will help you sound natural and teach you the subtle nuances and everyday phrases you won't find in a textbook.
Clear, Logical Explanations: Because I have a strong background in Education and experience teaching both English and Japanese, I know exactly where learners get stuck. I can explain complex grammar points clearly and easily in English.
Current Teaching Experience: I am actively supporting Japanese conversation classes at the University of Saskatchewan (USask), giving me hands-on, current experience guiding language learners.
Highly Flexible Customization: Whether you only know "Hiragana" and "Arigato," or you need help practicing for a Japanese job interview and writing professional business emails—I can completely adapt to your level and needs.
Study Materials Included: You don't need to buy anything! I provide digital textbooks and create customized study materials tailored specifically for you.
Who do I teach?
University Students who are currently taking Japanese classes and want extra speaking practice or support.
Adult Learners studying for professional career advancement or as a casual hobby.
All Levels Welcome! From absolute beginners to advanced speakers.
