About An Vinh
Hi, I'm Vinh! I'm a Master of Finance student at Wilfrid Laurier University and a CFA Level III candidate, with a bachelor's degree in International Business.
Before moving to Waterloo, I spent two years tutoring SAT and IELTS students, helping many of them reach their target scores. I also worked in banking as a bond trader and credit officer, where strong math and problem-solving skills were part of my daily work.
I'm patient, organized and genuinely enjoy seeing students go from "I don't get it" to "that's easy." My goal is to make every lesson clear, structured and encouraging, so students build real confidence, not just better grades.

My lessons are built around understanding, not memorization. I start with a short diagnostic to find exactly where a student is strong and where the gaps are, then tailor every session to those needs.
A typical lesson:
Quick review of the previous topic and homework questions
Clear explanation of the new concept with step-by-step worked examples
Guided practice, moving from simple to exam-style problems
A short recap and targeted homework
What sets me apart is my background in finance, where I used math every day in bond trading and credit analysis. I show students how concepts like percentages, functions and probability apply in the real world, which makes abstract topics easier to grasp. I also have two years of experience tutoring SAT and IELTS, so I know how to prepare students for test day with timing strategies and common-mistake checklists.
Lessons are for middle and high school students (Grades 7 to 12) who want to improve their grades, catch up, or get ahead, as well as students preparing for the SAT Math section. Online and in-person sessions are available.
