Master's graduate of London Conservatoires (RAM & GSMD) offering Cello lessons to all ages & abilities in Ewell Village, Epsom.

I’ve had the pleasure of receiving cello tuition from Rowena for just over a year. I’m new to Cello and in my 50’s, my only prior experience of stringed instruments is bass and acoustic guitar. I haven’t been reading music previously but playing by ear.

Rowena has patiently met me where I am in my musical journey, providing solid foundations in good technique and music theory.

With Rowena’s guidance , I was quickly able to move to playing simple classical pieces and duets whilst she reinforced the important foundations around posture, bow hold, fingering and importantly remembering to breathe!

I’m thoroughly enjoying our musical journey and would highly recommend Rowena’s tuition whatever stage you’re at in your cello journey.

My daughter has been learning cello with Rowena since December 2024. As a parent, I have been very impressed by her teaching approach and the progress he has made in a relatively short time.

Rowena is patient, encouraging and highly professional. She creates a positive learning environment where children feel comfortable and motivated to improve. My daughter genuinely looks forward to his lessons every week, which says a lot about her ability to make learning both enjoyable and rewarding.

One thing I particularly appreciate is how she adapts her teaching to the individual student. She challenges her appropriately while building his confidence, and we have seen significant improvements in both his technique and musical understanding.

I would highly recommend Rowena to any parent looking for a dedicated, supportive and inspiring cello teacher. She has played an important role in my daughter’s musical development, and we are very grateful for her guidance.

Rowena's teaching style creates a warm, welcoming and safe space for people of all backgrounds to learn music. As her colleague of a number of years, I can vouch for her professionalism, infectious enthusiasm and incredible musicianship.

I have worked and performed with Rowena over the last few years and can attest to her high level of musicianship, talent, dedication and passion. Her kind nature and drive makes her a fantastic colleague and I have no doubt that you will greatly appreciate the care she puts into everything she does and you will love learning with her.

Rowena has both been my colleague in musical performance (chamber music and orchestral), and my manager in pastoral roles with the National Youth String Orchestra. She is a highly effective communicator, compassionate person and exceptional musician. I would recommend Rowena as someone who will pursue excellence in her students with a compassionate yet empowering approach to coaching - supported by a wide range of musical expertise and experience.
