About Ha-eun
I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 26 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, and soloed with orchestras. I have also adjudicated for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association. I had the great fortune of studying with wonderful teachers, and I strive to be like them and pass on their wisdom. I am passionate about teaching out of a desire to help people grow and express themselves.
My primary language is English. I have an okay grasp of Korean.

I teach folks of all ages and skill levels: from kindergarten age to those in retirement; from having never done any music to those preparing for conservatory.
I emphasize building core understanding and technique (e.g. rhythm is universal, have only necessary tension, a good bowhold will unlock beautiful tone). Beyond fundamentals, I always aim to collaborate with my students to form challenging but reachable goals. I tailor my approach to those goals and a student's personality to make sure that the level of rigor is appropriate.

Perfect! Our experience with Ha-eun has been wonderful! They are incredibly knowledgeable about the violin and have a great way of breaking down concepts into easy-to-follow steps, making it perfect for our 6-year-old.
Perfect! Ha-eun knows how to instruct my son and correct various "bad habits" he had from before. She also knows how to push him so he is now motivated to be better than the previous week as he struggles through some difficult elements in the music. Very happy that we found Ha-eun :)
- Daniel is bright, observant, honest, has an amazing attitude, and to top it all off has a great sense of humor. He listens well, is respectful, really considers and thinks through questions I ask, and never gives up even when I put him through tedious (but useful) exercises. He tries new strategies that I suggest without complaining. I've really enjoyed teaching him!Ha-eun's response :
Perfect! She was fantastic!
Perfect! Ha-Eun was a fantastic teacher for the violin. Saw my ability playing violin skyrocket after taking classes from her. Very knowledgeable and an excellent person to learn violin from.
Perfect! My 14 year old daughter is very excited to be working with Ha-eun. She is energetic and fun while being extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented. We are excited for her teaching to help our daughter take her violin playing to the next level.
Perfect! Ha-eun is an amazing tutor for kids! Breaks things down so they are easy to understand, she is kind and enthusiastic!!
Perfect! She is a professional violinist, and she taught my son in an easy way with patience even though he could understand English a little and was just a beginner.
- His drive to learn and grow is insatiable. He practices diligently and takes initiative in the learning process. His family is kind and understanding, which makes the administrative parts of teaching easy.Ha-eun's response :

As someone who's worked with Ha-Eun for several years, I've seen firsthand that she is both a fantastic teacher AND performer. Ha-Eun is able to bring useful insights from her own career and musical training to help students young and old, beginner or advanced. She also manages to strike a great balance between being very compassionate with her students and holding them to a standard that ensures their continued growth. I strongly recommend her to any pre-professional violin student.
