About Thomas
Last June I graduated from the University of St Andrews in Scotland with a degree in International Relations and Middle East Studies. Currently, I am completing an MLitt in Iranian Studies at St Andrews. Throughout my university career, I've achieved top marks, winning book prizes, being named to the deans list, and graduating in the top of my class. Over the past three years I've had the chance to work with some of the world's leading experts in Iranian history, who have taught me the key fundamentals to success in historical, and political science writing and research.

Excellence in history and political science is achieved in three fundamental sequential steps.
First, my students will learn to read analytically. They will read broadly, from both primary and secondary sources, to reduced subjectivity, and they will read what isn't said as much as what is to form their arguments.
They will then learn to debate. After reading, students will be challenged to use what they've read, and the thoughts those readings provoked, to engage in discussion. Debate challenges one's own reasonings, and fosters original thought. Debate is the foundation for successful analytical arguments.
Finally, students will learn to take these arguments and put them into writing. Writing must be structured, specific, and condensed, all of which are only achieved through practice. Students will also learn to substantiate their claims with research and evidence, which they will learn to present correctly.
