About Nitant
Hi! I'm Nitant, a data scientist and educator with a passion for making math accessible and enjoyable. I hold a Master's degree in Operations Research from Lehigh University and was educated in India before coming to the US, giving me a unique perspective on problem-solving approaches from different educational systems. For the past 6+ years, I've used statistics and machine learning professionally to solve real-world business problems - from optimizing marketing budgets to building AI systems. I've also mentored junior data scientists and presented complex statistical insights to executives, so I know how to meet people where they are and guide them to understanding. As a tutor, I'm patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic about helping students build genuine confidence in math. I believe every student can succeed with the right support and approach - it's about understanding the "why," not just memorizing formulas. My Teaching Method & Approach:
I believe learning math and statistics should build genuine understanding, not just memorization. My approach is patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic - I meet students where they are and celebrate every breakthrough, no matter how small.
I start every topic by asking "why does this matter?" and connecting concepts to real-world examples. Then we break down problems step-by-step, building intuition before diving into formulas. I encourage questions and create a judgment-free space where struggling is part of learning, not something to be ashamed of.
A Typical Lesson:
Check-in (5 min): Review what clicked (or didn't) from last time, address homework struggles
Concept building (15-20 min): Introduce new topic with visual examples and real-world context - "Here's why we need this"
Guided practice (15-20 min): Work through problems together, I ask guiding questions so you discover the solution
Independent practice (10-15 min): You try problems while I provide support and feedback
Wrap-up (5 min): Summarize key insights, assign practice problems, preview next session
