About Mercedes
Teaching started because I wanted to simplify the complex logic I encountered during my 11 years as a software engineer. Truthfully, I struggled with jargon early on, so I prioritize clear, practical explanations. My BS degree from MIT provides the foundation, but my daily work at Bay Area startups keeps my skills in APIs, backend systems, and data structures sharp.
I enjoy helping people transition from novice status to confident data professionals. JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Java are part of my technical toolkit alongside Python. These 10 years of professional practice allow me to teach everything from competitive programming to object-oriented architecture. Seeing a student finally grasp a difficult concept after weeks of effort remains the most satisfying part of this work.

You receive immediate, brutal, and constructive feedback from the very first minute of our collaboration. Pacing matches your current speed while we build functional code, as I prefer hands-on application over reading lengthy documentation.
My MIT training ensures that every technical interview simulation covers the rigorous standards expected by top-tier hiring managers today. Developing strong problem solving habits requires consistent practice rather than passive observation of pre-written scripts. I emphasize real-world scenarios so you feel prepared when the actual job screen happens. Are you ready to see if your code can survive a simulated technical evaluation?
