About Jo
I am a problem solver with a degree in Physics, and another in Climate Change Management, and I have written a research book about Renewable Gas engineering, because climate change is a huge problem that needs solving. I know how it feels to study really complex subjects, as it can be such hard work. I am always grateful for the help of others in learning and developing, and it makes me want to be like them. When I feel I have understood something properly, I want to help others understand it as well. Learning never stops. I have been learning how to tutor one-to-one for around ten years, and my best discovery is that there is no such thing as a useless question. Each question challenges me to rethink and try new ways to explain and enquire.

Mathematics can feel confusing and heavy, so at the very start, I listen very carefully to students, to find out where the sticking points are. I keep the mood calm and casual for an initial needs assessment, and find out where I can help. Then I report back to the parent or guardian. If they are happy that I can be the right tutor, and if the student is happy to work with me, I offer a free lesson, to show the student they can be relaxed while learning, and confident in the skills they learn.
