About Alvina
My goal as a tutor is to instill in my students a solid understanding of how to solve exam questions and the courage to take on challenging problems. My educational philosophy is based on the notion that learning takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect where students are encouraged to reflect and forge new connections on their own. According to my experiences, one-on-one personal tuition offers students a special benefit because it can help them overcome their own learning obstacles and establish the groundwork for a profound and long-lasting understanding of the subject.

Each lesson takes an hour but if more time is requested, I can extend the lesson to 2 hours. I begin with subjects that the pupils are familiar with and progressively go to more difficult material as their confidence grows. I keep using queries and illustrations to make sure they are comprehending. I don't lecture or assign kids to memorize anything. I also don't finish the homework for the pupils! I have worked closely with 12-16 year olds many times and have always enjoyed working through Maths content with them. Their feedback has always been positive, and I have always helped them achieve their target grade so far.
