About Graham
My undergraduate degree helped improve upon skills developed during my secondary English classes. Making connections between media texts, to scholarly theory and social relevance through analysing form and language, which is identical to literature analysis. The vocational elements of my degree improved my creative writing, writing film and art reviews, stories and screenplays. Most forms of media are an amalgamation of its predecessor. Understanding the origins of film traditions and media trends allowed an insight into genre production and author fandom. A passion for reading emerged due to the volume of reading conducted in my studies.
I will have to dedicate lengthy periods of time to successfully plan, resource and deliver dynamic and engaging lessons that creatively respond the differing needs and interests of the students I will teach. More importantly I will also have to learn to change and adapt my teaching practice to the feedback I receive from a range of various sources. This capacity for self-reflection and improvement is a something I will always strive to achieve. In addition, I also realise as a trainee teacher I will have to work (at times) long hours, balance competing time and resource priorities, whilst also having to manage challenging behaviour within the classroom. I believe I am more than capable of responding with resilience to these challenges through ensuring that I maintain a healthy work life balance.
