About Ruth
Hi! My name is Ruth, and I am a practising medical doctor- a surgeon by training- and a member of the royal college of surgeons. Prior to completing a degree in Medicine at Kings College London, I undertook a degree in Philosophy, and have since completed a MSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. I have significant teaching experience, having taught both formally for several medical schools, and also informally tutored students as part of my job role. I have also attended several courses, to further develop me as a teacher, for example “Teach the Teachers”.
I am keen to go into tutoring, as I hope to give something back, and to help young people, many of whom have struggled significantly with covid restrictions.
My teaching style is adaptable, and depends upon the needs of the student. Everyone learns differently, and I think it is important to be flexible when tutoring. Overall, I think learning should be fun and interesting- the best way to learn is to find enthusiasm for a subject.
My primary areas are Medicine, Sciences (Biology and Chemistry), Philosophy, Politics and Religious studies. I am also keen to help with any university admissions interviews, including medical school interviews, and any pre assessment tests. Having had a quite varied career path myself, I am also on hand to give careers advice and guidance.
