About Beatriz
Hi, I’m Beatriz. I'm a first-year medical student with over 12 years of experience in education. Before entering medicine, I worked as a special education teacher, where I supported students with a wide range of learning needs and helped them build both academic skills and confidence.
My background has trained me to be patient, adaptable, and intentional in how I teach. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take pride in creating a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges.
I tailor each lesson to your specific goals. Whether you need help mastering foundational concepts, preparing for exams, or simply gaining confidence in a subject, I’m committed to helping you succeed.

My approach as a tutor is student-centered, structured, and focused on building true understanding. With over 12 years of teaching experience and my current training as a medical student, I’ve learned how to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps while keeping sessions engaging and supportive. For accessibility, I am available to tutor online or in-person at a local library.
**Teaching method & techniques:**
I use a mix of active learning, guided questioning, and real-world connections to help concepts stick. I ask you to think through problems, explain ideas back, and apply what you’ve learned.
**Typical lesson plan:**
1. Quick check-in to set goals and identify areas of focus
2. Targeted review of key concepts
3. Practice through questions, examples, or problem-solving
4. Ongoing feedback and clarification in real time
5. End-of-session summary with clear takeaways and next steps
**What sets me apart:**
My background in special education means I’m highly adaptable and skilled at meeting students where they are. I create a low-pressure, judgment-free space where questions are encouraged and mistakes are part of the learning process.
**Who my lessons are for:**
I work with middle school, high school, and early college students, especially those studying science (biology, basic chemistry) and math. I can also provide support with college applications. Overall, I'm a great fit for students who feel overwhelmed, need concepts broken down more clearly, or want a more interactive and supportive learning experience.

Beatriz is one of the leading medical students in my class. She is an incredible tutor. I would have failed out of medical school without her. She truly saved me. Cannot recommend her enough. She makes learning easy, and enjoyable in a way that sticks. She also has an expert ability to meet students where they are at and tailor her tutoring style to their needs. I will have her as my tutor for many years to come. Could not recommend enough.
I highly recommend Beatriz as a tutor! She has a really strong background in education, and it shows in how she connects with students. She’s incredibly patient, kind, and takes the time to build relationships so students feel comfortable and supported.
She’s great at breaking down tough math and science concepts in a way that actually makes sense, and she’s helped so many students grow in both confidence and understanding. Anyone would be lucky to have Beatriz as a tutor!View more recommendations
