About Maria Jose
I am convinced that the success to reaching a goal is done in consistency in the ''little by little" doing. Although I learned the basics of the English language when I lived in Nicaragua, from a teacher who also learned the language; the success has been achieved along the years of commitment to learn a little more with confidence and consistency on a daily basis. The six years that I have lived in the USA has been in Homestead, Florida where most of the people speak most if not only Spanish but this has not been a limitation for me instead, I have taken advantage every time that I am surrounded by native English speakers to practice and learn more about the language. Tutoring children ages 6-9 was part of my learning experience to motivate me to start teaching people ages 6-99 after seeing friends and family members struggling with the language and being limited to apply for a job based in their career or schooling, wanting to make new friends, trying to help someone else or even participate in a special celebration.

Why learn English with me? Have you been to the United States for less than a month and the only words you know are; hello, bye, how are you?, fine, thank you; please? The only English lessons that you are taking are the ones offered in the "Duolingo" app that you downloaded in your interest or frustration for speaking the language of the country that you now live in. This is exactly the thoughts that came to mind before I chose to offer English lessons on this platform. I have worked as a Teacher aide, Substitute Teacher and First Grade Teacher in the last 8 years at a school that uses the Abeka Curriculum. The method that I use is phonics, which is important for learning how to read and write. With this method you will learn sound-symbol relationships- the sound made by a letter or many letters together. These lessons will be helpful if you are committed and consistent, the lesson is more effective if it's taken in at least three days in a row. These lessons will be good for you if you know: -some English words or maybe no English at all It'll be easier if you are proficient in Spanish grammar.
