About Koo
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. I’m an actor, playwright, creator and teaching artist. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from University of Washington. Teaching is a central and beloved part of my artistic practice. Beginning my teaching during the pandemic and subsequently transitioning to in-person settings has honed my adeptness in adapting to changing circumstances, to conduct engaging and concentrated class sessions, whether they be online or in-person. These experiences have taught me to be flexible and to seek innovative approaches to classroom instruction. I am confident in my readiness to meet any group of students where they are and guide them to their next step. As a teaching artist and as a performer, I’ve received training on the basis of Stanislavsky Method during my education at the University Washington. Meanwhile, I’ve been in extensive training in Viewpoints, Suzuki, Alexander Technique, and Linklater Voice Method as well. All of these approaches aid actors in connecting with their impulses, embracing it freely, and allowing the physical aspects to guide the psychological ones. I also have experience with Michael Chekhov's work and with Frankie Armstrong’s Archetypes, an imaginative technique for broadening the performers’ palette of physical and vocal choices.

I teach performers of all ranges in the business: professional, collegiate, just starting out, re-entering the business, etc. My teaching toolbox has a solid base on techniques such as Stanislavsky Method, Viewpoints, Alexander Technique, Archetypes, Linklater Voice Work, and more. In terms of monologue coaching for auditions, we will start with a careful selection of the materials which shows the best of you.
