About Karla
I've taught developmental reading/writing, speech, composition, and world literature at the junior college level. I've also served as a creative writing volunteer/intern for the Community Word Project, a New York City-based artist in residence program that helps elementary school students discover themselves as poets.

I'm an MFA graduate of New York University with a degree in Creative Writing/Fiction. I help high school and college students with literature, grammar, and creative writing. I use literature as a jumping-off point to connect the student to her/himself and to the broader culture. I also use practice worksheets (grammar) and creative brainstorming/writing exercises (creative writing).
