About Sophia
Hi! I’m Sophia, a student at MIT studying computer science and mathematics. I’ve always loved helping people understand things in a way that finally “clicks,” whether that’s solving a difficult math problem, improving study habits, or navigating the college admissions process.
I know how stressful academics can feel, especially in competitive environments, so I try to create a supportive and low-pressure atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades or test scores, but to help them become more confident and independent learners.
Outside of academics, I enjoy writing, music, and creative projects! I love talking to, working with, and helping people in any way I can! I'm so excited to meet you and help you through your learning journey!

I focus on making difficult concepts feel approachable and intuitive. My teaching style is patient, collaborative, and tailored to each student’s learning style. Rather than just giving answers, I help students understand why concepts work so they can solve problems independently and build confidence over time.
A typical lesson involves reviewing challenging material, working through examples together, practicing problems step by step, and identifying patterns or strategies the student can reuse on their own. I tutor subjects including SAT math, algebra, precalculus, calculus, introductory programming, and general college prep.
For college admissions mentoring, I help students with essays, application strategy, interviews, and presenting their experiences in a clear and authentic way.
As an MIT student studying computer science and mathematics, I understand both the technical material and the pressure students can feel while learning it. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace.
My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, and early college students.
