About Jodi
Hi! I’m Jodi! - A clinical scientist with a doctorate in molecular biology, specialising in molecular genomics, genetics, and immunology. I started teaching because I’ve been through it all myself. I fell in love with biology at GCSE level and carried that passion all the way through to a PhD. Along the way, I’ve made the mistakes, stressed over the Krebs cycle, and had to figure out how to actually understand the material — not just memorise it. There were times I didn’t get it right away. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by the content, confused by exam wording, or unsure how to link everything together. That’s why tutoring is so rewarding for me: I get to help students navigate those same challenges with the benefit of hindsight, experience, and practical strategies that actually work. I don’t just teach biology — I teach how to learn biology. I share the exact tools, study techniques, and mindset shifts that helped me succeed, tailored to whatever stage you’re at — from GCSE to university-level molecular biology. For me, the best part is seeing that moment when things finally make sense for a student. Whether it’s understanding a tricky process, cracking exam technique, or finally feeling confident going into a test — those wins matter to me just as much as they matter to you. Whether you’re preparing for your GCSEs, A-levels/Highers or diving deep into molecular biology at university - My aim is to make biology make sense, building real understanding, and developing the confidence to apply your knowledge in any context. I teach exam technique, help you recognise what examiners are looking for, and train you to handle even the toughest questions with precision. I make sure you understand the why, not just the what. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Every student has different strengths, gaps, and learning styles. That’s why I customise every lesson: we focus on what you need. Whether it’s breaking down complex pathways in molecular genetics or simplifying photosynthesis at GCSE level, I adapt the pace and depth to suit you. Most importantly - I have been in your shoes! I create an open and relaxed space where it’s okay (completely normal) to not know something, encourage you to ask questions, and to take time to really get it. I treat students with respect, and with your commitment - you will see results!
