About Hiroko

Hello! I'm Hiroko, a native Japanese speaker who grew up in Japan. I'm passionate about sharing Japanese culture with others through language, food, festivals, anime, manga, and more. Let's explore the world of Japanese together! Experience ・A qualification for high school teachers in Japan ・Years of experience at a coaching college in Japan ・Currently teaching Japanese in a Japanese community language school 　(Since2015) ・Japanese tutor for adults and high school students (since 2012) ・I have a Working with Children Check(WWCC) from New South Wales.

About the lesson

Learning a language with just textbooks can easily become monotonous. Especially learning vocabulary and grammar, which involves a lot of memorization, becomes less effective with simple repetition. Therefore, in my lessons, I aim to enhance learning effectiveness and capture learners' interest by combining various teaching materials.

Specific Teaching Materials and Usage:

Card Games:
Help solidify vocabulary and grammar.
Learning through enjoyable and repetitive games makes it easier to retain information.
I prepare various types of card games tailored to the learners' levels and interests.
Songs:
Learners can learn natural language usage and pronunciation through song lyrics.
Learning along with the rhythm and melody of songs makes it easier to memorize.
Other Materials:
Illustrations and Photos: Help visually understand vocabulary and grammar.
Videos: Help practice listening and pronunciation, and understand culture.
News Articles and Websites: Enhance reading comprehension and vocabulary, and deepen understanding of current events.

Points for Selecting Teaching Materials:
Whether it matches the learners' levels and interests.
Whether the content aligns with the learning objectives.
Whether learning is enjoyable.
Whether it is visually easy to understand.

I provide comprehensive advice and guidance based on all of these elements.

Do you want to travel to Japan and enjoy conversations with locals? Are you studying Japanese for a school exam? Or are you preparing for a study abroad program? I can create a personalised lesson plan and select the most suitable materials to help you achieve your goals.

If you are:
-A high school student taking a Japanese Beginners, Continuers or Extension course for the HSC
-A high school student having a Japanese lesson
-Looking to learn Japanese for travel, conversing with Japanese friends or to pick up a new skill
-Looking for 1:1 online or face-to-face Japanese classes

Let's efficiently review the vocabulary and grammar necessary to understand the text. And I will be your speaking practice partner and teach you how to respond better. I guide you in practicing for the writing test. I provide one-on-one correction guidance.
I will provide teaching materials and practice content to suit your level, from beginner to advanced, or you are welcome to bring your own.
Let's start with a free trial lesson! Just tell me what you hope to achieve with your Japanese studies and what kind of class you're looking for.
