About Oliver

I have received over 5 years of 1-2-1 tuition in composition, music production, music for film and piano by active musicians working in their field. My work has been played on Radio 3 Late Junction, in New York, London, Birmingham.

I have assisted A-Level music technology students at Solihull Sixth form in achieving A or above for their work. Some of the styles they composed were EDM (house, techno), film music, musique concrete, minimalism.

Electronic music is what I am passionate about and would love to share my enthusiasm with aspiring composers/ songwriters/ performers, allowing them to reach their goals as a musician. All I really hope for from you is a willingness to learn, and we will have a lot of fun! :)

About the lesson

What can we explore?

-writing beats in any genre (trap, hip-hop, ambient, dance music)
-analog and digital synthesizers (Korg Minilogue, Korg Volka Bass, Volka beats)
-working with samples (field recordings)
-DJing
-performing with electronics
-Music production software; Ableton, Logic Pro, Audacity, Serato DJ, Sibelius
-songwriting (lyrics, chord progression, structure)
-advice on what direction you should take based on your interests (Institutions you may wish to study at, music you should listen to, goals you should set yourself)

What will you achieve?

-A finished composition/track to a professional standard (ready to be submitted to institutions or released online)

Oliver taught me piano for the past 4 months. I have found him to be a very patient and considerate teacher who is able to help me develop my skill set. As a beginner he is good at explaining things clearly. He is very friendly, calm and approachable and a great person to have to help.
