About Indigo
I'm a professional drummer, percussionist, educator, composer, and multimedia artist. I most recently was the drummer for Blue Man Group in Shanghai. I also was a principal performer in the cast of the NYC Broadway show STOMP. As a freelance drummer, I've also toured with various recording artists and production outfits such as; Miki Howard, Street Drum Corps, and Royal Caribbean Productions. I've studied theory and performance at Santa Monica College, as well as privately with Pete Korpela (Lion King, Josh Groban), Sean Ritenauer (NY Philharmonic), and Alejandro Carvajal (Afro-Cuban). In the marching percussion world, I received a bronze medal at the 2012 WGI Championships while marching with Orange County Independent. As an educator, I've taught both drum set and hand percussion to children and adults at the School of Rock franchise and at my private studio.

My approach to teaching is to first assess my students current interests and abilities and then design a personalized curriculum for them which will combine both music theory and notation reading with play by ear skills. The main focus is help students reach their goals while also developing into a well rounded musician. I'm comfortable with students of any age and with any special needs!
At my studio I have an array of percussion including (drum sets, djembes, congas, bongos, Middle Eastern percussion, hand pan, Brazilian percussion, mallet percussion etc.) and should you decide to study online I have professional audio equipment to make your lessons as close to in person quality as possible!
So what are you waiting for? Lets make your rhythmic dreams a reality!

Awesome teacher ! Indigo has an excellent flow and warm energy and made me feel very comfortable with trying this new goal of playing drums. I’m a beginner drummer and indigo guides with patience and clarity!
-Ami KimIndigo is a great tutor. I came to her as a seasoned musician but with little knowledge of the Bongos, so she straight away had to figure out lessons that were on one hand basic yet at the same time advanced... no problem! She's clear, she's friendly and sets interesting things to explore between lessons. I had reservations about lessons via Zoom but they worked well. Awesome!
-samIndigo is the kindest, most well versed instructor I’ve ever taken my kids to. She instilled a passion for music in my children that I never knew they had! Thank you so much!!
My 8 years old daughter absolutely loves her classes with Indigo. She is an extremely knowledgeable amazing teacher, but also has a special gift in communicating with children. We are so grateful to have found such a special young woman to teach our daughter!
