About Glauco
My name is Glauco Fernandes. I'm a chemistry technician and I'm in the third year of my bachelor's degree in physics at the University of São Paulo. I have always been interested in physics and mathematics.
I dedicated a good part of my graduation to projects called scientific initiation, these led me to three different areas within physics:
-Mathematical physics.
-Particle Physics.
-Biophysics.
The first two required a huge (modern level) mathematical and physical background, so I had to exhaustively study topics like electromagnetism, special relativity, and quantum mechanics at a relatively high level. My more recent interests in biophysics have brought me back into contact with certain topics, mainly organic chemistry and cell biology.

Lectures where what is exposed is not a bunch of formulas and rules but, as far as possible, an understanding of the logic and physics behind the processes.
For high school students the course can be given in two ways: with and without a (non-formal) introduction to calculus. This is up to the student. The idea of this introduction is to facilitate the understanding of physics in some situations (eg seeing rates of change as derivatives) or to facilitate the "memorization" of expressions (eg using integrals to get the temporal function of the position in a uniform accelerated movement). Classes cover (at high school level):
- Mechanics.
- Thermodynamics.
- Undulating.
- Geometric optics.
- Electromagnetism.
- Special Relativity.
- Quantum physics.
For the basic university cycle: The introduction to calculus is recommended since calculus will be used a lot during the classes. Advanced topics (eg inertia tensor in introduction to mechanics) can be covered but must be requested in advance. Classes cover:
- Introduction to mechanics (including wave and oscillations).
- Thermodynamics (including Gibbs formalism)
- Introduction to fluid mechanics.
- Restricted relativity.
