About Sam
I’m a recent Cognitive Science graduate with a strong interest in how people learn and build confidence in challenging subjects. Alongside my degree, I’ve been tutoring National 5 Maths students across S2–S5, both online and in-person.
Maths hasn't come easily to every student I’ve worked with, and that’s something I really understand. I enjoy helping students move from feeling stuck or overwhelmed to feeling capable and more in control of their work. Seeing that shift in confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me.
I’m calm, patient and structured in my approach, and I genuinely care about helping students feel more comfortable with maths - not just improving a grade, but changing how they feel about the subject.

My lessons follow a tactical approach of breaking down, often seemingly complex ideas, into clear and simple steps. Once the fundamentals are there, I quickly move on to exam-style questions with constant reassurance along the way, greatly increasing confidence in my students.
I am a recent graduate of Cognitive Science from the University of Edinburgh and have been tutoring Maths and Computer Science for 2+ years. I also have some experience tutoring neurodivergent pupils (Autism, Dyscalculia) however I am not a specialised expert.
Typical lesson length: 60 mins (I also offer 90 mins).

When in high school, i was really struggling to learn the fundamentals of computing and programming, i just found it hard to understand my teachers and it got me really stressed as i needed this qualification for university. Then i found Sam, he was very welcoming, friendly, not overpriced (like most tutors), and his way of explaining things was very easy to understand. I quickly began to make big strides in my computing class, and increased my confidence all thanks to sam.
