About Sylvia

Hi! I’m Sylvia — I grew up in China, completed my undergraduate degree in business in the United States, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Speech Therapy in Australia. This unique educational and cultural background allows me to understand both Eastern and Western ways of thinking, which helps me support students from different backgrounds more effectively. As a native Chinese speaker, I have a deep understanding of modern, authentic Chinese expressions and culture. Combined with my speech therapy studies, I pay special attention to pronunciation, tone accuracy, and clear communication, helping you sound natural and confident. I believe learning a language should be practical, enjoyable, and empowering. Whether you want to improve daily conversation, prepare for business meetings, or learn modern expressions for social media, I can tailor each lesson to your personal goals and interests. I look forward to helping you achieve your Chinese learning goals in a friendly, encouraging, and professional environment. Let’s make learning Chinese a fun and rewarding journey together!

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Sylvia, a native Chinese speaker and a current master's student in speech therapy in Australia. My classes focus on making Chinese learning fun, practical, and highly personalized for each student.

I believe in a communication-focused approach, helping you build confidence in speaking and listening while improving reading and writing skills as needed. With my background in speech therapy, I pay special attention to pronunciation, tone accuracy, and natural expression, which is especially important for Mandarin learners.

Teaching techniques and methodology:
• Conversation-based practice with real-life topics
• Focus on natural, authentic expressions used by native speakers
• Customized materials based on your personal goals — whether for travel, daily life, business, or social media
• Detailed feedback on pronunciation and fluency to help you sound more natural and confident

️ Typical lesson length:
• 1 hour per session (can be adjusted as needed)

My qualifications and experience:
• Native Chinese speaker with a deep understanding of modern Chinese culture and trends
• Master's student in speech therapy, with strong skills in pronunciation and communication training
• I also run a Chinese social media account, so I can share the most authentic, up-to-date expressions and slang, especially useful for learners interested in modern spoken Chinese or social media content

Who are my lessons for?
• All levels welcome — from complete beginners to advanced learners
• Suitable for adults, university students, or professionals needing Chinese for business or social media

My goal is to create a supportive and friendly learning environment, so you feel comfortable to speak, make mistakes, and gradually become a confident Chinese communicator.
