It is with great pleasure and complete confidence that I write this letter of recommendation for Jakob Werdelin, who has been a valued member of our teaching team under my supervision since May 2021.

During this time, Jakob has consistently been our most reliable and highly requested Danish as a Foreign Language instructors. He has delivered tailored language training to a range of companies including our major international clients here in Copenhagen. Background, nationality, levels, and motives vary- some learners come to us because they have settled and established families in Denmark, others simply want to engage more fully at work. I have personally overseen his work and have consistently received rave reviews across the board – from individual learners, corporate HR departments, and team leaders alike.

What sets Jakob apart is his rare ability to achieve outstanding results across all teaching formats and at all levels. Many instructors excel only in person or only online, or with A1 or C2. Jakob masters all. He is known for producing his own tailored materials and innovative use of visuals and tech.

Face to Face Instruction: In corporate classrooms, he creates an energetic, low stress environment where his students quickly gain practical Danish. His lessons are always purposeful, moving beyond textbook grammar to real world scenarios.

Online One to One: This is where Jakob truly shines. He has a natural ability to build strong rapport through a screen, keeping learners engaged for the full session. He expertly uses digital tools to mimic the spontaneity of in person conversation.

Group Classes (Virtual & In Person): He manages mixed level groups with patience and structure, ensuring that no student is left behind while still challenging advanced learners, using a range of tools (shared whiteboards, breakout rooms, live listening exercises). His online group management skills are particularly impressive – a challenge for many teachers

Beyond his pedagogical skills, Jakob is deeply professional. He is always prepared, punctual, and culturally astute, understanding the busy schedules and specific pressures of his students. He has an exceptionally high student retention rate, and I have personally received comments like "the best language teacher I have ever had" and "I finally feel confident speaking Danish at work" repeatedly throughout his time with us.

I really appreciate the effort Jakob put in adjusting to and understanding my personal issues with the Danish language as I have been in a weird stage of understanding a lot when hearing or reading but struggling when talking myself. Jakob is a very experienced Danish language teacher whom I can highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn or improve their Danish at whatever level. I have been receiving lessons from him online for some 7 years. He has an excellent command of English and knowledge of linguistics, which helps with understanding the nuances in the Danish language. He is patient and encourages you to work out the right words rather than immediately giving the answer.

I’ve had around 15 lessons with Jakob now and he’s honestly a brilliant tutor. Right from the start he took the time to understand how I learn best and shaped his teaching around that, rather than sticking to a rigid one-size-fits-all method - which has made a huge difference to how quickly things have stuck.

Beyond the teaching itself, Jakob is just a genuinely lovely person to spend an hour with each week. He’s sharp, easy to talk to, and makes the sessions feel more like a good conversation than a lesson, which honestly helps the learning along even more.

One session that really stands out was when he taught me the Danish numbering system using a wonderfully silly video about how the numbers supposedly originated from counting fish. Completely random, genuinely funny, and somehow it made the whole thing stick far better than any textbook explanation would have.

Jakob has been my Danish teacher for around 18 months. His  lessons consist of a balanced mixture of Danish grammar, comprehension, conversational skills and the mysteries of Danish pronunciation.
