About Laura
I’m currently a student at the University of Melbourne and a native Mandarin speaker. I’ve always enjoyed helping my English-speaking friends and classmates learn Chinese.
One day, a native English speaker asked me to help him prepare for a Chinese exam. While helping him revise, I realized how much I genuinely enjoyed teaching my own language and explaining things that come naturally to me as a native speaker.
That experience inspired me to start teaching Chinese and help more people who are interested in the language and Chinese culture. I especially enjoy introducing Chinese to people who are learning out of curiosity or personal interest, and I hope I can make learning Mandarin feel fun, approachable and enjoyable.

My lessons are mainly for people who want to learn Chinese for fun, personal interest, travel, or everyday communication. I welcome complete beginners as well as beginner and intermediate learners.
Lessons are relaxed and flexible, with a focus on speaking, pronunciation, useful vocabulary and everyday conversations. I can also help you understand how native speakers actually communicate, including natural expressions and casual Chinese that you may not find in textbooks.
You can learn at your own pace, and I’m happy to adjust each lesson based on what you’re interested in and what you want to improve.
