About Ingrid
Hello! Hi, I'm Ingrid!
I'm a passionate educator from the beautiful coastal city of Durban, with over 15 years of experience in adult training and development. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of helping people build skills, grow in confidence, and achieve their goals—and there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing that moment when learning "clicks."
Today, I'm excited to bring that same enthusiasm and experience to younger learners. As a native Afrikaans speaker, I'm passionate about helping children develop a strong foundation in Afrikaans while creating a positive, encouraging environment where they feel confident to learn, participate, and succeed.
My lessons are interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student's needs. I believe that children learn best when they are actively involved, having fun, and feeling supported every step of the way. Whether your child needs extra support, wants to improve their marks, or simply gain confidence in the language, I'm here to help them reach their full potential.
Beyond teaching, I'm a creative at heart. I love drawing and painting, and I often incorporate creativity into my lessons to make learning more enjoyable and memorable. My goal is not only to teach Afrikaans but also to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

I believe that with the right support, every child can thrive and discover the joy of language. In addition to teaching, I have a deep love for the arts. Drawing and painting are a significant part of my life, and I often find inspiration with a sketchbook and pencil in hand. I believe that creativity plays a vital role in education, and I enjoy bringing that artistic spirit into my teaching whenever possible.

Perfect! My lessons with Ingrid have been an absolute pleasure from the very beginning. She has a wonderful ability to make you feel completely at ease, which creates an environment where learning feels natural rather than intimidating.
What impressed me most is how quickly she understood exactly what I wanted to achieve. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, she took the time to understand my learning style and tailored our lessons accordingly. She is patient, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and always finds creative ways to explain Afrikaans that go beyond memorising vocabulary. Her lessons weave together language, culture, history, and real-life context, making every session genuinely interesting.
I also feel we’ve been an excellent match. Our conversations flow naturally, and our similar level of maturity makes the lessons enjoyable and intellectually stimulating. Rather than focusing on large amounts of vocabulary, he is deeply interested in the origins of Afrikaans, its cultural significance, sentence structure, and the "why" behind the language. He also expressed an interest in incorporating Business Afrikaans and elements of South African social studies into his lessons.Ingrid's response :
