My approach to tutoring is centered on clarity, confidence-building, and individualized learning. As someone with a strong interdisciplinary background in engineering, neuroscience, and biomedical research, I focus on helping students understand concepts deeply rather than relying on memorization. I believe students perform best when they feel supported, engaged, and empowered to think critically.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a structured but flexible teaching style tailored to each student’s learning pace and goals. I begin by assessing a student’s conceptual understanding, problem-solving approach, and areas of difficulty. From there, I break down complex ideas into simple, logical steps using visual explanations, real-world examples, and guided practice.
I emphasize:
Concept-first learning before moving to problem-solving
Step-by-step reasoning to build confidence and reduce math anxiety
Active participation through interactive questioning and collaborative problem solving
Regular progress checks to reinforce learning and adjust strategies as needed
Since tutoring is conducted online, I use virtual whiteboards, live problem-solving demonstrations, and screen-based collaborative tools to keep lessons interactive and engaging. I also provide written summaries or practice strategies students can review independently.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A standard session with Monazza usually includes:
Concept Review (5–10 minutes)
Review previous material and identify areas needing reinforcement.
Topic Introduction or Skill Development (15–25 minutes)
Explain new concepts clearly with examples and structured walkthroughs.
Guided Practice (15–20 minutes)
Work through problems together while helping students develop independent reasoning skills.
Independent Application and Feedback (10 minutes)
Students attempt problems independently while I provide targeted feedback.
Summary and Strategy Planning (5 minutes)
Review key takeaways and provide practice recommendations.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What distinguishes Monazza as a tutor is her ability to bridge rigorous academic training with approachable teaching. With experience in advanced scientific research, graduate-level teaching, and standardized test preparation, I bring both subject mastery and strong communication skills to each lesson.
I specialize in translating complex STEM concepts into clear, manageable learning steps. My interdisciplinary training allows me to connect mathematics, biology, and data analysis in ways that strengthen student understanding. Additionally, my experience mentoring students in research and academic development allows me to guide learners not only toward better grades but also toward long-term academic confidence and success.
Who the Lessons Are For
Lessons are designed for a wide range of students, including:
Middle school and high school students needing support in mathematics or science
Students preparing for standardized exams such as SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, or GED
College-level students seeking support in introductory STEM subjects
Students interested in research mentorship, academic skill development, or STEM career preparation
I work with learners of varying skill levels, from students needing foundational support to high-achieving students seeking advanced academic or test preparation coaching.
