About Jillian
Hi, I’m Jillian Goodwin. I’m a New York State certified teacher with 14 years of classroom experience in general education, Secondary English, and TESOL. I love helping students feel more confident and capable in their learning. I design lessons that are meaningful and connected to the real world, so students can see why what they’re learning matters. My training in TESOL has given me strategies that work for all learners, not just English language learners. I focus on building vocabulary, breaking down tricky concepts, and creating a learning environment where every student feels supported. Whether we’re working on reading, writing, Regents prep, or language development, I’m here to help students grow and feel proud of their progress.

I use visuals, connect new ideas to what students already know, and try to make learning fun and engaging. A typical lesson starts with a short introduction and mini-lesson, followed by work time with support as needed. I work with students in grades K through 12 on a wide range of skills from writing letters to crafting strong argumentative essays and reading complex texts. I also help with Regents prep and support English language learners. What sets me apart is that I truly care. I try to make learning interesting, connect it to the real world, and help students feel confident and supported.
