About Mashilo
As my title suggests, I am 1900 rapid on chess.com, and I aspire to reach 2100. The reason I am teaching chess is so people can learn how simple this game can be with the right framework, as many people simply don't understand it as they overload themselves or just aren't taught properly, and I want to fix that by taking time with my students, and getting satisfaction from seeing their growth. I also want to give people a cheaper option to access good chess guidance, which can often be a challenge

I am a patient coach who understands the frustration that comes with being stuck at a low elo and wanting to evolve. I focus on teaching principles rather than specific tactics, as it is having the correct framework and understanding of the game that boosts elo, however as you progress, we get to tactics. I am able to teach from all ranges of age, young or old, and I can teach in English and isiZulu. My students can expect to be patiently guided through the foundational principles of chess, including styles of play, controlling the centre, reading opponent moves, etc. Lessons are taught online through Zoom/Google meets, on either the Lichess or Chess.com platform.
