About Julien

Hi!

My name is Julien. I’m 40 years old and originally from Marseille, France. I have been teaching French for over six years.

I hold two Master’s degrees in International Relations and Political Science from Sorbonne University. I’ve spent most of my life living abroad, including in Australia, China, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Indonesia. I teach French in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

I support students at all levels and aim to make the learning process enjoyable and stress-free by creating a friendly and positive classroom atmosphere. I also enjoy discussing French culture and general knowledge during lessons. My main interests include international relations, geopolitics, the environment, economics, travel, and sports.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions and share personalized recommendations to help you progress.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Julien

About the lesson

A shared Google Document will be used for each lesson. After our first class, I will design a personalized program tailored to your goals and needs. This can range from a beginner’s course to advanced conversation sessions on topics such as politics, philosophy, the environment, geopolitics, and society.

If you wish, I can also provide exercises to prepare for the next lesson, helping you review vocabulary and grammar points. We will focus heavily on spoken French so that you gradually gain confidence and fluency.

I always aim to create a relaxed and positive atmosphere in my classes, as I believe learning is most effective when it’s enjoyable.

Perfect! Sometimes, it can be overwhelming attempting or planning to try something new. Learning a new language or, rather re-learning in my case, was a bit daunting. However, when first meeting Julien, your nerves are calmed and trust is engaged. Julien's body language and tone; additionally, his teaching approach and methodologies, are curated to the student's experiences, circumstances, and more. He's very lenient, kind, and immensely patient.

I have been working with Julien for more than a year now and I am very happy with my choice. Julien is professional and takes tutoring seriously. He has never missed or canceled a lesson, never been late, always has learning material prepared. He is polite, patient and encouraging, he never lets me give up when things get a bit challenging and makes sure that I fully understand everything. At the same time he has an easy-going and fun personality and I always feel at ease, without being overly self-conscious about my pronunciation and grammar mistakes, and the lessons pass very fast. In addition, he is very well traveled and knowledgeable so we always have interesting serious/fun topics to discuss. And I enjoy his insightful stories about French culture and history! Bon travail et merci beaucoup Julien!
