Hi, I'm Billy! I tutor in GCSE and A-Level English, English as a Foreign Language and help with UCAS applications. My lessons can be taught online or in person, and last an hour long. Here are my qualifications: I've recently graduated from Exeter College, Oxford with a BA in English Language and Literature. I've consistently been working as a private tutor for over 3 years. I've worked as a full-time teacher and activity leader for Bayswater College and LSI Cambridge. I obtained a CELTA qualification from IH London. -- My main aim as a tutor is to ensure students leave my lessons with greater knowledge and understanding of the subject. I believe this is best achieved through enquiry-based learning: I always encourage students to ask questions, because doing so helps stimulate critical thinking and allows them to take an active role in their learning. We can start from the basics and gradually work our way through the subject using a series of custom-made study notes, intensive revision sessions and back-and-forth conversations!

I found Billy's lessons helpful, especially with analysis and breaking down texts. He gave practical advice that made my essays clearer and more focused. I felt more confident going into the exam thanks to our sessions.
Billy supported my daughter with GCSE English Language. He was reliable, organised and patient. Her understanding of exam-style questions improved noticeably, and she became more comfortable with her writing. We really appreciated his help.
