About Ben
I’ve been tutoring students of all abilities and levels from KS3 to Undergraduates for over 5 years. I inspire confidence in my students, running collaborative sessions to develop strong problem-solving skills and exam technique and enjoy exploring maths. I have strong skills in communicating complex ideas simply - at university I ran weekly seminars for second-year undergraduate students, using the skills I developed in my higher education teaching course. I also know what examiners are looking for, having been one myself when I was employed to mark the Oxford Maths Admission Test (MAT) during my MSc there. I combine this with the mathematical expertise I developed over my maths Undergraduate and MSc to build challenging but enjoyable sessions to push my students to reach their full potential.

My skills-based sessions are typically 1 hour long and always start by easing in with a simple warm-up exercise to build confidence. Following this, we will work through an example problem together to clearly expose a new skill or method, before moving onto many similar practice exercises to reinforce this new skill. To finish the session, we'll apply this method to an exam-style question, to bridge the gap from textbook to test.

Ben is a fantastic tutor. He is insightful, a clear communicator, and can approach a problem from different angles to suit the needs of the student.
Ben is great as a tutor and has never failed to turn a complex problem into one easily understood. Studying with Ben at university he was always excelling across topics and had a true passion for the subject. But more importantly able to explain and teach the topics to others after not long at all. Also has experience tutoring across different levels so would highly recommend.
Ben is a fantastic maths tutor. He has a first class mathematics masters degree from the University of Oxford, so has excellent knowledge. He is able to translate this into understandable language really clearly, and support people at all different levels to perform their best. Ben is also very friendly and supportive.
Ben is a great tutor and helped me a lot when I was struggling to study for my maths exams. He took time to explain concepts to me in lots of different ways and gave relevant questions for me to practice. He also gave really good advice on how he revises for exams which I found super useful.
