I am Rose, an English Literature graduate, currently living in Barcelona, Spain. In my teaching, I try to inspire students not just to learn but to enjoy the texts they are studying, often combining creative writing approaches with more exam-tailored learning to bring the lesson to life.

I try to maintain a flexible approach to teaching, as my teaching experience and also my own experience as a student has taught me that each student has a different way of learning and deserves teaching suited to their particular needs. Before taking a tutoring job, I make sure to have a thorough conversation with the student's parent or guardian about what they are struggling with, so that I can deliver the best quality lesson for their child. I tend to teach in hour-long sessions with a 5-minute break in the middle to avoid the student losing focus, but this of course is also flexible. I have a long history of working with children and teenagers both educationally and pastorally from ages 4-17. I have worked as a tutor for children of a variety of ages, conducting both group and one-on-one sessions. In the year between finishing school and studying at university, I helped a small group of primary school children with both English and Maths, as well as a GCSE student who, with my help, was successful in attaining an A grade in both English Language and Literature, despite being previously predicted a C. During university holidays, I went back to tutoring several times, working with other GCSE students with predictions ranging from fail to A*.

Rose tutored me for my GCSE English exams which I was really struggling with at the time, and made the course so much easier to understand. She created a very comfortable environment that allowed and encouraged me to learn, and resulted in two 9 grades (the equivalent of an A*) in both English literature and English language.
Great tutor! Rose helped my son preparing for his 11+ exam and independent school entry exam. She was excellent and patiently helped my son getting ready for the exam which he passed very well.
