About Lauren

I am a friendly and calm undergraduate who is passionate about a multitude of things outside academia such as cooking, running and art in addition to being an avid reader. I am hoping to become a teacher in the future after I have finished my degree as I really enjoy spending time with children and young adults in a fun educational environment which is something I have done for my whole professional life through tutoring and volunteering with charities such as NCS.

About the lesson

Ultimately, there is not a single approach to tutoring that is superior and I have found it best to adapt my methods of teaching to suit the individual tutees best, in terms of whether they are auditory/ visual learners and what memory retention techniques work best with them, how to deconstruct topics to facilitate understanding and how to encourage them to become independent and critical thinkers etc. I am happy to follow exam boards directly with exam preparation and revision activities in a way that is tailored to the learning capacities and expectation of the tutee. So each lesson would range from around 40 minutes to an hour, but is ultimately up to the preferences and concentration levels of the tutee. I have privately tutored for around 4 years and have had ample experience with a variety of different students and what they wanted from the sessions, so I am happy and willing to handle anything. My lessons are intended for any age and aptitude above primary school but ultimately I am keen to encourage learning with all age demographics so am more than happy to take on any new student.
