About Nicola
I am a painter and visual artist with a strong background in art history and a passion for teaching. Currently, I am running art workshops in a primary school based in Chelsea, in which I actively contribute to the academic excellence and artistic development of all students, exploring contemporary/modern art techniques and concepts, as well as art history.
After graduating in Architecture and Design at the Istituto Superiore Artistico A. Passaglia in Lucca, Italy, I have obtained a first class Bachelor’s degree in contemporary music at the University of East London (ICMP). My academic journey and my passion for art has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of various art movements, cultures, and historical contexts.
During my previous teaching experience, I have developed an interactive narrative and effective methods, fostering critical thinking skills as well as practical learning, basing my lessons on visual and inclusive learning approaches. In my current role I was able to plan multiple art trips and workshops, as well as hosting a one day art exhibition at One Room Art Gallery, where children were able to exhibit their works. My aim is to ultimately create an engaging learning environment, that allows students to feel empowered, while exploring and expressing their creativity and develop knowledge and appreciation for the intricate world of art. In addition to my teaching skills, my creativity allows me to to enhance the learning experience, and to provide students with a holistic understanding of the world around them, including virtual museum tours, multimedia presentations, and interactive online resources.

In our first session we will explore the theory of colour theorised by Itten.
After a brief introduction of history of art, we will learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. With an activity based on British artist Bridget Riley.
In the following sessions we will explore the theory of colour and the contrasts to fully understand how to better use the colours at our own advance as artists.
After that, we will explore form, shapes, perspective to learn how to construct a pictorial environment.
Each lesson will be based on a artist and their technique, learning about their lives, styles and skills.
Finally we will be able to implement all the learning to produce an original piece of work.

The fee is £35 an hour with a minimum of 2 hours per session, each session.
