About Mikolaj
I am a passionate and experienced chess player from Brighton. I currently play for the Brighton 1st team in the Sussex Chess League, as well as for the Sussex County team and the Sussex Martlet's 1st team in the 4NCL. I won the Brighton & Hove Chess Club Championship and came second in the Sussex County Championship in 2017.
I graduated last summer with a 1st class Master of Mathematics degree from the University of Southampton, where I had experience part-time tutoring first-year mathematics undergraduates. In my spare time I enjoy playing in chess tournaments, reading mathematics, running and climbing!

Whether you are a keen tournament player wanting to improve or a beginner looking to learn the game, you came to the right place. With a holistic approach, I will identify areas of your game which can be improved and we will work on them together!
I have over 10 years of experience playing in chess tournaments in the UK, Poland, Denmark and the Czech Republic. Having progressed over 700 rating points in that time period and faced many opponents, and received and given coaching during this time, I can guide and teach you so that you will become consistent and improve your game.
I can host coaching sessions at my home in Hove or I can travel to you if that is more convenient ( of course depending on how far away you are). We can also work online or at the chess club if that works best for you.
