About Markus
I’m a Materials Engineering grad from Winona State University, where I also spent three years tutoring engineering, physics, and chemistry. In that time, I helped students not only complete their homework and prepare for exams, but also truly understand concepts that once felt impossible. I know these subjects can feel like a mountain, but with the right guide, they become more like a steady hike :) Outside of academics, I’m an active guy who loves golf, catching a good movie, and traveling to new places. I bring that same energy, curiosity, and patience into tutoring, so learning with me feels approachable and motivating.

Engineering classes got you stressed? Don’t worry, I’m here to help you carry the load! Whether it’s statics, mechanics of materials, physics, or chemistry, I’m here to break things down into bite-sized pieces that actually make sense. We’ll go at your speed, focus on what you need, and have a good time while we’re at it.
My style? I'm down-to-earth, supportive, and all about helping you feel confident. Whether you’re diving into something new or aiming to level up, I’ve got your back! Below is the lesson plan I generally follow:
- Getting to Know You: We begin with a quick chat about you—your goals, interests, and what’s been challenging. This helps me customize the session to suit you and creates a comfortable vibe.
- Building on What You Know: We start by reviewing what you’re familiar with to connect to the new topic. For example, in chemistry, we might go over basic reactions before tackling stoichiometry, following the way classes build up.
- Explaining It Clearly: I break down the topic in simple, clear terms. I’ll ask questions to get you thinking about the material, a method schools use to help it stick.
- Practicing Together: We solve problems together, starting with easier ones and moving to harder ones, just like your courses do. I’ll provide clear feedback right away to help you improve, a proven way to learn.
- Trying It Solo: You’ll work on a problem by yourself to apply what we’ve covered. I’m right there if you need help, making sure you feel confident.
- Wrapping Up and Planning Ahead: We go over the main points to lock in your understanding, using a quick review method that boosts memory. I’ll suggest practice problems or study tips to keep you on track for next time.

Working alongside Markus as a tutor at Winona State University has been an outstanding experience. He was highly respected in the tutoring center for his strong work ethic, genuine passion for helping others, and consistent dedication to student success.
I highly recommend Markus for all aspects of STEM! He is very helpful and thorough, and will make sure you leave with not just the right answer, but an understanding of how to get there.
Markus is not only one of the smartest people I know (he’s got an engineering degree to prove it), but he’s also a fantastic tutor. I worked with him all throughout college, and the biggest reason was because of how well he could break down tough concepts into simple, easy-to-understand explanations. On top of that, he’s just a great guy to be around—he makes the learning process fun instead of stressful. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for real help with their classes.
I highly recommend Markus as a tutor. He has a remarkable ability to break down complex engineering problems into clear, understandable steps which has helped me grasp concepts I once thought were beyond my reach. Markus is not only incredibly intelligent but also patient and methodical in his teaching approach. Anyone looking to deepen their understanding of challenging topics would greatly benefit from his guidance.
