About Jenna
My academic career is centered around communicating science effectively. The complicated jargon of science often intimidates and excludes students whose critical thinking skills and drive are far above what is reflected in their science grades. My lessons are dialogue-driven and comfortable. With my 7 years of research in microbial ecology and 3+ years of teaching microbiology lab, I specialize in college-level courses for microbiology majors, health majors, and environmental majors. The unique setting of a lab course allows me to engage with students for extended one on one instruction that is atypical of typical classroom settings.

Lessons will generally start with a dialogue about your current understanding and pain points. I will guide you in establishing a basis to build on as we work together. My main priority is always clarity and simplification of scientific jargon that often acts as a bottleneck for students. Whether your goal is to pass a class or excel in a class that is geared to your profession, I guarantee we can get you there. I work primarily with undergraduate students every day and understand that one lesson does not fit all. My number one phrase is "it is okay if you don't know"; in a few guided questions, you will.
