About Michaela
Hello! I'm Michaela, a PhD scientist with a passion for making science engaging, accessible and enjoyable.
Over the past eight years, I've taught more than 100 students and delivered over 3,500 hours of personalised tuition, supporting learners from GCSE through to university level. Alongside tutoring, I've built my career in biomedical research, spending several years researching brain cancer at the University of Manchester. Working at the forefront of scientific discovery has given me a deep understanding of biology and chemistry that I love bringing into my lessons.
Tutoring has always been far more than a job to me. I believe every student is capable of succeeding when they're taught in a way that works for them. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop genuine understanding and discover that science doesn't have to be intimidating—it can actually be fascinating.
I know that every learner is different, which is why I take the time to understand each student's strengths, challenges and ambitions. Whether you're aiming to pass your exams, achieve top grades, prepare for university or simply feel more confident in class, I'll support you every step of the way with patience, encouragement and a personalised approach.
I'm particularly passionate about making STEM accessible to everyone. Throughout my research career I've worked alongside clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals to tackle some of the biggest challenges in medicine, and I love showing students how the science they learn in school connects to the real world. My hope is not only to help students achieve fantastic results, but also to inspire curiosity, resilience and a lifelong appreciation for science.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy creating new revision resources, keeping up with the latest scientific discoveries and finding fresh ways to make even the most challenging topics easier to understand. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a student's confidence grow and watching that moment when everything finally clicks.

Biology is so much more than memorising facts—it's about understanding how living systems work and seeing the connections between topics. My lessons are designed to make biology engaging, logical and, most importantly, understandable.
Every lesson is completely tailored to you. Whether you're studying GCSE, iGCSE or A-Level Biology, I'll adapt my teaching to your exam board, current ability, learning style and academic goals. Together, we'll identify the areas you're finding most challenging and create a personalised plan to help you make consistent progress.
Lessons are interactive, supportive and focused on building both confidence and subject knowledge. I use clear explanations, diagrams, active recall, exam-style questions and regular retrieval practice to ensure you don't just remember the content—you truly understand it. Alongside this, we'll develop the exam technique needed to maximise marks by analysing mark schemes, practising command words and learning exactly what examiners are looking for.
I create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that's where the best learning happens. My aim is not only to improve your grades, but to help you become a confident, independent learner who genuinely enjoys biology.
Whether you're hoping to secure a pass, boost your predicted grade or achieve an A*, I'll provide personalised support every step of the way.

Michaela was my science tutor for GCSE. She is king and understanding and taught me in a way which allowed me to understand topics which I found tricky at school.
With her help I feel confident. She breaks down topics really well and is always patient with me
