About Dominic
My name is Dominic Gilani, and I am a PhD student in English Literature at the University of Bristol with hundreds of hours of experience tutoring GCSE and A Level students in English Literature and English Language online. My own research focuses on Shakespeare, but I have taught a wide variety of texts, including a wide range of texts on multiple exam boards for both GCSE and A Level. So whether it's A Christmas Carol or Hamlet (or anything in between!), I'm happy to help!

Lessons will focus first and foremost on an appreciation for the texts being examined, as this is necessary before any analysis can be undertaken. I then work with the student to help them understand the techniques and tools which the writer uses to achieve specific aesthetic effects, which is what most GCSE and A Level exam/coursework questions are asking them to do. I have hundreds of hours of experience tutoring on other online platforms and have many hours of experience teaching in person in a classroom setting. Lessons typically last an hour.
