About George
I am currently a 3rd year PhD student studying marine biology with an emphasis on behavioral ecology. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology and wildlife biology in 2018 from Griffith University in Australia. In 2022, I completed my Master of Science degree where I studied marine biology. Specifically, my research focused on seagrass ecology related to major fishery species on the east coast of the US. After completing my masters, I began my PhD where I transitioned into behavioral ecology. I have a strong background in biology and am comfortable tutoring subjects including biology, ecology, marine biology, evolutionary biology, and genetics. In addition, I have been teaching undergraduate ecology labs at my university for the past 4 years.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a tutor, I employ a student-centered approach, focusing on active learning techniques to engage students in the learning process. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and exploring concepts through hands-on activities, discussions, and collaborative projects. I also utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, group work, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, and interactive simulations, to accommodate different learning styles and preferences.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson plan with me involves clear learning objectives, a structured outline of activities, and opportunities for assessment and feedback. Each lesson begins with an engaging introduction to pique students' interest and establish the relevance of the topic. I then present the core content using a combination of visual aids, demonstrations, and real-world examples to enhance understanding. Hands-on activities, discussions, and problem-solving tasks are integrated throughout the lesson to encourage active participation and critical thinking. I always allocate time for review and reflection at the end of the lesson to reinforce key concepts and address any lingering questions or misconceptions.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What sets me apart as a tutor is my commitment to personalized learning and my ability to adapt my teaching approach to meet the unique needs and interests of each student. I prioritize building strong rapport and trust with my students, fostering a supportive learning environment where they feel empowered to take ownership of their learning journey. I also stay current with the latest educational research and technology trends, incorporating innovative teaching strategies and tools to enhance learning outcomes. Additionally, my passion for the subject matter and genuine enthusiasm for teaching inspire and motivate students to actively engage in the learning process and strive for academic excellence.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are designed for students at various academic levels, from high school to college, who are studying biology or related fields. Whether students are pursuing a degree in biology, preparing for standardized exams, or simply interested in expanding their knowledge of the natural world, my lessons are tailored to meet their specific needs and goals. I can accommodate students with diverse backgrounds and learning abilities, providing differentiated instruction and additional support as needed. My lessons are also suitable for homeschooling families, community education programs, and anyone else seeking quality biology education.
